JOHNNY JOHNSON

A fifteen-year odyssey (ongoing) as ‘average white heterosexual working class man’ Johnny Johnson with over 100 original performances.

The character developed from an antipathy towards ‘drag’, and an attempt to embody an ‘opposite. ‘Johnny Johnson is an often site-and-theme specific character who reflects dark-lightly on contemporary themes.

Supporting actors: Mai Lise Rasmussen, Suzie Davis.

DEAD DIANA

A ten-year project from 1997 to 2007 undermining the cult of sainthood and celebrity that grew around the memory of Diana, Princess of Wales after her death.

The piece used real time extreme vocal manipulations to manifest the ‘Dead Celebrity Convention’ that is the modern paradise ‘Dead Diana’ lives in. The piece performed across Europe, although was not well received in the United Kingdom. Tough crowd. Satellite projects included the installation project: The Dead Celebrity Diaries.

SEX IN THE WARZONE

The piece was awarded the National Performing Arts Hub Theatre Prize 2002. The play performed across Europe including the Cartier Foundation in Paris, the Museum of Modern Art in Stockholm and the Centre For Cultural Decontamination in Belgrade.
